Service Philosophy

At Funtastic Gems we believe that the before/after/vacation care program is a valuable and predominant part of the school and local community. The values which strengthen Funtastic Gems for the provision of a quality service provide that the children’s physical, emotional and social needs are met in a safe, caring and supportive environment. The best interests of the child are of paramount concern to us. Thus, the service believes that children are active learners from birth and through rich, engaging environments and meaningful interactions we can shape a foundation for successful lifelong learning, and personal development opportunities. Our educators within Funtastic Gems values the fundamentals of learning through play and identifies the significance of childhood in the early years. We believe that the intrinsic worth of all children and their families, their strengths and their right to equitable access and participation in the community is clearly visible in all aspects of service delivery.

At Funtastic Gems we provide care in a way that:

 

  • Recognizes and respects parents as primarily responsible for the upbringing, protection and development of their children. Funtastic Gems aims to support parents in that role, to the greatest extend reasonable possible.
  • Children, parents, staffs and relevant community members are treated with respect and their views in relation to the proper operation of the service are considered and valued.
  • Encourage and value the unique qualities of our children and their families.

Service Cost for Parents

  • Child Care Subsidy: From the 2nd of July, 2018 the child care rebate and benefit are replaced by the child care subsidy as a whole. Parents are eligible to receive child care subsidy from the government and if eligible only pay for the gap fees to the service. The CCS will vary among all families and this all depends on the income and their family circumstances. If you require further assistance regarding eligibility please call the Department of Human Services.

 

  • Enrolment fees: An annual enrolment fee of $100 applies to each child once enrolled and any additional siblings after that is $50. This price will vary if necessary, however will only be changed at the beginning of the year if necessary.

  • Late Collection fees: If you collect your child after 6:00pm, you will be charged a late fee of $10. If a child is not collected by 6:10pm and no contact can be made with parents of emergency contacts then the fees will increase to $50 flat rate. However, if parents notify service that they late prior to collection no fees will be charge.

 

  • Invoice / refunds and absences: Invoices are available to view through your Xplor account this can be access either through the smart phone app or computer using your credentials. If parents have any concerns about their invoice or payment please inform us directly or through email and we will ensure to have the matter resolved and rectified. Funtastic Gems will refund parents subjected to the following:
    • Fees applies to all absences.
    • A two-week notice needs to be given to Funtastic Gems if there are changes to your child bookings or full fees applies.
    • Full fees still applies if child is going away on holidays or family event.
    • If child is booked in on the required booking days and is being picked up at school fee still applies. Please inform educator or service if child is being picked up.
    • If your child is enrolled to Funtastic Gems and your subsidy has not yet come through to Xplor system, full fees will be applied until it appears. However, if parents have arranged and spoken to management prior we are happy to charge parents upon receiving their subsidy. Funtastic Gems are unable to refund the parents in cash but credit ONLY as when their subsidy is being reimbursed to us by Centrelink it is credited back to parents Xplor account for future booking.

     

    • overdue fees: If there is an outstanding fee of over $150, or where no payments have been received or arrange to be paid within two weeks then service may temporarily cancel or place your child bookings on hold until its been arranged or paid.
